Clinical results of scarf osteotomy

Background/Aim. There are few research papers in Serbia reporting on the clinical results of scarf osteotomy and its long-term effects. The aim this retrospective study was to evaluate efficacy hallux valgus (HV) deformity correction, as well degree recurrence possible causes. Methods. included 48 patients (52 feet) who underwent osteotomy. Average follow-up time 103.9 months (63-156). In order clinically results, scale American Orthopedic Foot Ankle Society (AOFAS) Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) pain were used. Preoperatively postoperatively, radiographically determine deformity, radiographs feet taken standing position parameters determined were: HV angle (HVA), intermetatarsal (IMTA), distal metatarsal articular (DMTAA) sesamoid position. Results. AOFAS scores increased from 19 (5-45) points preoperatively, 92 (54-100) at latest examination (p < 0.001). VAS values significantly improved 10 (8-10) 0 (0-6). average HVA correction 24.8?. rate whom greater than 20? 26.9%. Conclusion. Although is a proven procedure for HV, still show relatively high recurrence.
